Quality Policy

The TeraSys Technologies’ Quality Policy is guided by the principles of the Baldrige National Quality Program and the ISO 9001:2008 Quality System. The Baldrige National Quality Program is supported both by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ). The Baldrige National Quality Program emphasizes quality as a framework for all corporate functions; therefore our Quality Policy spans Leadership Style through Strategic Planning and including Process Management. The Process Management portion of our Quality Policy is structured to follow the ISO 9001:2008 Quality System.

Managing Projects

TeraSys Technologies has program and project management expertise that possess a proven track record of managing Department of Defense Research and Development contracts for both large companies such as the Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, as well as here at TeraSys Technologies. In addition, our program and project managers are certified Project Management Professionals (PMP) as recognized by the Project Management Institute, demonstrating our commitment to quality program and project management.

TeraSys Technologies is structured as a project-oriented company with an over-arching operations team that provides supporting functions such as accounting, facilities, and security. Each project is headed by a trained program or project manager that manages cost, schedule, and risk. Technical staff are managed by an engineering manager that staffs the project using a matrix organizational structure, providing the correct mix of experience level and technical core competency. In this manner, there is a single point of contact between the project team and the customer, which is the program or project manager. This provides clarity of communication, which is a key element for project success.

The projects are structured to follow the 5 phases of the project lifecycle as defined by PMI and the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), namely project planning, initiation, execution, controlling, and closing. An additional key factor in the management of projects is the ability to control cost and schedule and perform predictive analyses on future performance based on historical results. To achieve this, upon request, we are capable of using the Earned Value Management System (EVMS). EVMS uses financial baseline data, actual expenditures, and planned expenditures to measure cost and schedule performance as well as to predict future performance measures such as the estimate to complete a project.

Managing Risk

TeraSys believes in a proactive approach to problem resolution. Central to this theme is our ability to proactively monitor for project risks and an elevation plan to resolve project issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our approach closely follows that of the Project Management Institute and the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) risk management process. The Risk Management Model (RMM) described by the DAU is a closed-loop process that repeats throughout the lifecycle of a project.
