Honolulu Named as Repeat Site for IEEE International Microwave Symposium for 2017

November 7, 2008

In 2007, the IEEE Microwave Theory and Transactions Society held its annual flagship event, the International Microwave Symposium, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Over 7,000 engineers and scientists from around the world came to Honolulu, bringing over $34 million in travel revenue.

Based on the success of this event, a team of industry, academia, and hospitality partners submitted a bid to bring the Symposium back to Honolulu and successfully won the opportunity to be the host city in 2017. TeraSys Technologies employees served key roles on the capture team and will lead the steering committee in 2017.

Bringing large scale Science and Technology events to Hawai’i is a win-win. Our attendees have the opportunity to see that Hawai’i is a vibrant center for RF and microwave research and product development. Our city has the opportunity to share the Aloha Spirit with a truly international audience. We are very proud to have this opportunity.
