White Paper Request

The modern world has witnessed a number of disruptive technological innovations with wireless technology being one of the most widespread.  It is impossible to identify an area of our lives that has not been touched by wireless technologies such as the pager, cellular telephone, weather Doppler radar, and satellite communications, all of which make heavy use of wireless technologies.  The availability of wireless technology has allowed it to permeate all aspects of society and has become particularly prevalent in military campaigns which use wireless technologies as the backbone for command and control.

With the exceedingly high premium placed on antenna real estate, antennas are being forced to operate in close proximity which creates the possibility of wireless systems interfering with each other.  This problem is known by many names including CoSite interference, unintentional jamming, spectral fratricide, friendly jamming, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).  CoSite Interference occurs when a high power transmitter creates sufficient interference to impair communications for a sensitive receiver.  In spite of the name CoSite, we emphasize that interference can still occur between systems spread far apart if the transmit power levels, antenna gains, or receiver sensitivity are sufficiently high.
